HEGSTROM, Thelma Lorraine Born in Burnaby, BC on February 15, 1922, passed away in Nanaimo, BC on April 1, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Os (Walter) and son David. She is survived by her daughter in law Lorraine, sister Ardis (Sonny), son Harold, daughter Darlene (Ron), grandchildren Leanne, Neil, Jenny (Jeff), Kris (Sarah), step-grandchildren JB (Sarah), Brooke (David), great grandchildren Bree, Brandon, Molly, Kerrigan, Wyatt, plus many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. Known as Babe”, Auntie Babe” and Gramma Babe”, she lived in Bamfield most of her life and considered it to be the only place on earth to live.” She loved her friends, many of whom she kept in touch with for years, either by phone of by letter (she had 27 pen pals!). An avid photographer, she leaves behind a legacy of 104 picture albums plus numerous framed photos, both large and small. Babe had a long work life, starting at the age of 12 in a fish cannery, housecleaner for many people, babysitter, clerk at the BC Packers General Store, cook at the CNIB in Victoria and lastly as a cook at the Fisher Buoy/Tides and Trails” cafe in Bamfield. She was a character who will be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial will be held in Bamfield later this summer. 622162
